Budafok - Teteny

A cooperation agreement with Budafok-Teteny District of Budapest was signed in 1999. Budafok is one of the 23 Districts of Budapest, the capital city of Hungary. It is a suburban district situated in the southwestern part of the city. Budafok was an independent municipality before 1950. The village was known for wine and champagne making. Budafok-Teteny is the official name of the district, which covers 43 square kilometers and has a population of over 50 468 residents. Budapest was created out of the unification of the separate towns Buda, Pest and Obuda in 1873. Budapest is separated into two parts by the River Danube. Budapest has a large business-industrial center covering an area of over 525 square kilometers with a population of over 1.8 million. Budapest is called a “City of Spas” because of the thermal waters of the city are thought to have various medicinal properties.

Lichtenberg - District of Berlin

The Lichtenberg District of Berlin has been partnered with Białołęka since 2000. Lichtenberg is situated close to the city centre and contains one of two zoological parks, Friedrichsfelde, in Germany. Lichtenberg is a suburban area covering an area of over 52 square kilometers with a population of over 259 165 residents. The two districts are currently involved in economic cooperation, with representatives of Białołęka participating in Business Days in Berlin and the Lichtenberg Association for Polish and German Economic Cooperation working to increase economic ties between the two districts.

Mairena del Aljarafe

Białołęka and Mairena del Aljarafe signed a partnership agreement in April of 2009. Mairena is a city located about 9 kilometers from Seville – the capital city of the province of Andalucía, Spain. With 40 thousand citizens and lots of green space, it’s and excellent place for recreation and quite similar to Białołęka. Furthermore, an extremely modern industrial park in located nearby. The aim of this partnership is to exchange experience in urban and spatial planning and to increase opportunities for cultural and education exchanges by young people.
